Quentin Blake has illustrated more than three hundred books and was Roald Dahl's favourite illustrator. In 1980 he won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal. In 1999 he became the first ever Children's Laureate and in 2013 he was knighted for services to illustration.

The new archive material includes excerpts from first drafts, a letter from Roald Dahl to his editor, notebook scribbles and sketches and early character lists accompanied by archivist’s commentary showing how the author’s stories and characters began and evolved into the Roald Dahl worlds we all know and love today.
